DOROTHY C. WHITE

Dorothy Evelyn Colonna White, 83, of the 300 block of Brambleton Ave., died Dec. 16, 1995, in her residence.

Mrs. White was a native of Norfolk County. She is the grandaughter of the founder of Colonna Shipyard and was born in the family house on the Shipyard property. She was the daughter of the late Willoughby Warren Colonna Sr. and Roberta Mansfield Colonna. She was the widow of George Corbin White and was a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church in Chesapeake. Mrs. White was a member of The Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters' Circle of Service; Ghent Garden Club; Nathaniel Bacon Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and George Durant Chapter of the North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames.

Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Wool Curtis of Old Church, Va.; a son, Daniel Holt Smith III of San Francisco; two stepdaughters, Joan Thomas of Norfolk, Mary Johnson of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Virginia Colonna Folkes Parker of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Caroline C. Thrasher of Virginia Beach; a brother, Willoughby Warren Colonna Jr. of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A church service will be conducted at noon Monday in St. Brides Episcopal Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Michael J. Godderz. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, today from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Brides Episcopal Church.
