NELLIE EADS SIMMONS

Nellie Eads Simmons, 83, of the 200 block of Air Station Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Dalton, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Henry and Nannie Lula Chapman Eads. She was the loving wife of the Rev. Troy Lee Simmons for 65 years. Mrs. Simmons was a charter member of the Virginia Beach Church of God and served God beside her husband wherever he pastored.

Besides her husband, the Rev. Troy Lee Simmons, she is survived by two sons, Kenneth Simmons of Virginia Beach and Larry Simmons of Madison Heights, Va.; three daughters, June Jernigan of Upper Marlboro, Md., Lucille Menier of Hyattsville, Md., and Jill Carmine of Ocean Pines, Md.; one brother; four sisters; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Virginia Beach Church of God, Regency Drive, with the Rev. Rick Hocker and the Rev. Paul Eure officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and at other times at the residence on Air Station Drive.
