Northrop Corp. said Monday it will push back closure of a facility that houses B-2 bomber development and support operations from 1997 to 1999, preserving nearly 4,000 jobs for two years.
The decision was due in part to the possibility the federal government may increase its existing order for 20 of the radar-evading, bat-winged bombers. The defense budget accepted this month by President Clinton added $493 million to the program, though Clinton opposes more. (AP) by CNB
