Lillian Harrell Carpenter, 81, of the 100 block of Turlington Road, a homemaker, died Dec. 18, 1995, in Obici Hospital.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Suffolk, daughter of the late Mary Babb Harrell and Tavis O. Harrell and was the widow of Sam Henry Carpenter. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra C. Claud and Leslie V. Claud Jr. of Suffolk; two sisters, Mary H. Hay of Suffolk and Katherine H. Owen of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; a brother, William H. Harrell of Chesapeake; and one granddaughter, Lisa M. Beale.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas W. Gibson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at 855 Colonel Meade Drive, Suffolk.
