Earl Calvin Howell, 70, of Route 1, Box 9, died Dec. 19, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center, Norfolk.
He was a native of Hertford County, N.C., and was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, N.C. Mr. Howell was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Dell Winstead Howell; two daughters, Yvonne Grand, Terri Hand, both of Charleston, S.C.; two step-daughters, Judy Miller of Chesapeake, Teresa Geer of Norfolk; son, Keith Howell of Virginia Beach; two step-sons, Johnie Owens of Norfolk, and Robert Owens of Murfreesboro, N.C.; three sisters, Jenny Sue Hedgepeth of Como, Lois Tillery of Ahoskie, N.C., Florence Whitley of Franklin, Va.; two brothers, Carl Howell of Murfreesboro, Roy Howell of Como, N.C.; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Thomas Caulkins and the Rev. Jan Dickens in Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como. Burial is in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Como Fire and Rescue Squad, Como, N.C. 27818.
