ROSALIE SANCHEZ CHIROPRACTOR AND OWNER OF BETTER HEALTH CHIROPRACTIC

As a child, Dr. Rosalie Sanchez spent many a summer's day romping on the beach at Ocean View and riding rides at the old Ocean View Amusement Park.

Those warm memories of summer vacations with her aunt and uncle are what brought Sanchez back to Norfolk to open her chiropractic practice.

``Ocean View has the kind of small community/neighborhood feeling that I want to live and work around,'' Sanchez said.

She opened her practice, Better Health Chiropractic on Granby Street, three years ago. She came to Norfolk from Atlanta, where she graduated from Life Chiropractic College.

Sanchez, who is also a registered nurse, said she decided to become a chiropractor after she was ``personally helped, when all else had failed. Plus, the alternative and natural approach to health suits me better than the traditional model.''

After coming to the area, Sanchez worked at the Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center while getting her business started. She also joined the Ocean View Kiwanis Club and the Ocean View Merchants Association. She has has served as president and vice president of the Merchants Association.

``I really feel that a person needs to have some involvement in their community,'' Sanchez said. ``Many times, people want to see things changed, but they don't want to get involved. But it's important as a business owner and a resident.''
