Isaiah Hines, 97, of the 1200 block of Hible St., died Dec. 19, 1995, in a local hospital.
He was a retired shipyard worker for Colonna's Shipyard where he was employed for 40 years. Mr. Hines was a native of Carrsville, Va. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Berkley, for a number of years, and later became connected with the Grater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake, where he was involved in the conception of the organization of the church. He was a member of the Price Hall Lodge 66, Campostella Civic League, Deacon of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, member of the Evangelist committee, and was involved in the Model City Program.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Ferbee Boyd of Manson, N.C.; two sons, Leland Hines of Norfolk, and Paul Hines of Fort Washington, Md.; brother, Thomas Hines of Brooklyn, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday in Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at 6914 Bonnot Drive, Norfolk. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is in charge of the arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
