The trial of a Virginia Beach woman charged with parental abduction has been postponed.
The trial for Kathy Smigielski, scheduled to start Wednesday, was delayed because a prosecutor in the case was ill.
Smigielski was charged with parental abduction after leaving the state in February 1994 with her daughter, who is now 6 years old. Smigielski maintains she took the child because she was worried her ex-husband, who had custody of the girl, might abuse her.
No date has been set for the trial.
