Virginia Beach Third Precinct police officers helped save a

Christmas party for fourth- and fifth-grade students Thursday after

someone broke into three portable classrooms at Bettie F. Williams

elementary school and stole the kids' presents and holiday snacks.

Here, officers G.L. Marcum, left, and W. J. Behan, help the kids.

The thief also stole two 20-inch televisions sometime between

Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The officers rounded up gifts

donated by catalog company Lillian Vernon and delivered them in time

for the party. Police ask anyone with information on the theft to

call 427-0000.
