CORRECTIONS

A brief Friday in the MetroNews section gave the wrong date for a Black Man-Black Woman Rally in Suffolk. It will be held today at Constant's Wharf from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A headline on Friday's MetroNews front should have indicated that the federal court in Norfolk, not the Portsmouth court, is cracking down on drug defendants.

The first part of a quote on Thursday's MetroNews front was by soprano Amy Johnson and the rest by Virginia Symphony music director JoAnn Falletta. The entire statement, about the performance of Handel's ``Messiah,'' was mistakenly attributed to Falletta.

The ``Walt Disney World Very Merry Christmas Parade'' airs at 10 a.m. on ABC on Christmas Day, not at noon. Captions on the cover and on page 23 of today's Television Week section have the wrong time.

A television column in Friday's Daily Break had a wrong designation for the VF-102 squadron aboard the carrier America.

Lonnie Blow Jr., who saved a 3-year-old girl from a burning house, lives and teaches in Norfolk; he taught in Portsmouth at the time of the rescue. A MetroNews headline erroneously described him as a Portsmouth resident.

Yitzhak Rabin was prime minister, not president, of Israel. A photo caption Wednesday had an error.

CLARIFICATION

A finding by Child Protective Services that there was ``reason to suspect'' John Smigielski had abused his daughter was overturned on appeal and classified ``unfounded.''

A story in Wednesday's MetroNews section reported correctly that all of CPS' ``reason to suspect'' findings have been ruled unconstitutional and purged from the record, but it did not say that the Smigielski finding was overturned before the constitutionality ruling.

The story was about the upcoming trial of Smigielski's ex-wife, Kathy, on charges of parental abduction. by CNB
