Some guys like cars. Other guys like gadgets. Not me, I like lists. I spend a lot of my free time scanning magazines and newspapers for lists.
Doesn't seem to matter what kind of list. During my last visit to the doctor, I found a ``Gourmet'' magazine that listed the best-selling cheeses in Switzerland. The nurse had to call my name twice when it was time to see the doctor. I just couldn't believe that Swiss cheese wasn't on the list.
My home library is filled with books of lists. Here's a partial list of those books:``The Book of Lists'' by David Wallechinsky, ``The Book of Rock Lists'' by Dave Marsh and ``David Letterman's Book of Top Ten Lists.''
So, as you might guess, this is my favorite time of year. Every newspaper and magazine offers lists of the biggest, best and worst of everything. As the year ends, I offer this column of lists by Outer Banks experts who shared their opinions of the year's best movies, videos, books, CDs and radio hits.
