I am disgusted that a minority of 34 senators have overruled a majority of the Senate and of American citizens and defeated an amendment giving Congress the right to outlaw flag desecrations.
Sen. Chuck Robb's vote against this proposal should cost him his place in the Senate. It's going to cost him five votes from the members of my family.
I believe the vast majority of Virginia veterans who saw combat and active-duty military will vote against Robb. I would expect all the families who lost husbands and relatives in recent conflicts would do the same.
I am not ashamed to declare my patriotism.
