HAZEL P. WAGNER NOLEN

Hazel Purdie Wagner Nolen, 82, died Dec. 24, 1995, in Maryview Nursing Center.

Mrs. Nolen was a daughter of the late J. Lee and Grace Chapman Purdie of Isle of Wight County, Va. She was a retired school bus driver for Suffolk City Schools and had worked in the lunch room at Chuckatuck Middle School.

Survivors include her husband, Noah Nolen of Chesapeake; her daughter, Celia Wagner Coughlin of Grand Fork, N.D.; three grandsons, Steven Coughlin of Ocean City, N.J., Michael Coughlin of Suffolk, Mark Coughlin of Millville, N.J.; two nieces, Lynn Stallings, Irie West, both of Smithfield; three nephews, Vernon Gwaltney of Chester, Donald Gwaltney of Smithfield, Brian Gwaltney of Guyton, Ga. She was predeceased by her first husband, Alton L. Wagner; a son, Kenneth Wagner; an infant daughter; a brother, James Purdie; and sister, Thelma Gwaltney Gallagher.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oakland Christian Church, Suffolk. Burial will be in Newman Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. At other times, Celia Coughlin will be at 1 Purdie Ave., Smithfield, and Mr. Nolen will be at 4024 Silverwood Drive, Chesapeake. Memorial donations may be made to the Oakland Christian Church Building Fund.
