Carolyn Brewer Layton, 81, of the 2500 block of Mayon Drive, died Dec. 25, 1995, in Newport News.
Mrs. Layton, the widow of William Edward Layton Sr., was a retired salesperson at W.T. Grant Co. She was a native of Portsmouth and a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church, Chesapeake.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Gayle Layton of Chesapeake; a son, William E. Layton Jr. of Newport News; a sister, Helen Brewer Smith of Chesapeake; a brother, James A. Brewer Jr. of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, William George Layton of Poquoson, Va., and Linda L. Kvaven of Richmond; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Riverside Memorial Park by Chaplain David Pearcy. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today, and at the residence at all other times. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
