Joseph Ashton Yates, 94, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995.
He was the husband of the late Jeannette Beazlry Yates. He is survived by one son, Rev. Alexander ``Yukkie'' Yates who lived in the Norfolk/Newport News area for many years. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Richmond, where friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. today. His remains will be transferred to the Memorial United Methodist Church at Charles City where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today and where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment is in the Micah Church Cemetery.
