Bessie L. Coates, 95, was called to her eternal home on Dec. 26, 1995.
Mrs. Coates lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Hugh Morton of Chesapeake.
Mrs. Coates is survived by her daughter, Margie Morton of Chesapeake; son, Claude Coates of Granger, Ind.; three grandchildren, Hugh Morton Jr. of Camden, N.C., John Coates of Lynchburg, Va., and Teresa Foley of Mishawaka, Ind.; and one great-granddaughter, Sidney Coates of Lynchburg.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church, Norfolk. The family will then travel to Keysville, Va., the home of Mrs. Coates, and receive family and friends that evening at Browning Funeral Home, Keysville, between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Coates will be buried at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Abilene, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Mrs. Coates be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2808 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, Va., 23509.
