Barbara Best Spaulding, of the 700 block of Carolina Ave., died Dec. 26, 1995, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Pitt County, N.C., and was a retired civil service computer analysis specialist with the Naval Supply Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Logan Park, where she was a church clerk, trustee, female usher on board (NU)2 and a statistician of the Tidewater Churchwide Institute. She attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Norfolk State University with a degree in computer science. She was secretary of the Norfolk Chapter of NSU Alumni Association and business manager of the fundraising committee of Booker T. Washington, Class of 1958.
She is survived by a daughter, Tracy Anita Spaulding of Norfolk; two sons, Terry Allen Spaulding of the U.S. Marine Corps, Richmond, and Thomas Anthony Spaulding of Norfolk; her mother, Mary Louise Best of Norfolk; one sister, Hazel Jean Thomas of Norfolk; three grandchildren; a special friend, Joseph A. Staton; and a nephew, Phillip Davis Sr.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Logan Park, by the Rev. Joseph Price. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
