Ollie A. Lassiter, 84, of the 2900 block of Elm Ave., died Dec. 27, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Lassiter, a retired pullman porter, worked for Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was a native of Portsmouth and a member of Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth, for over 45 years. He was a former trustee for 19 years, and in 1992 was elected trustee emeritus. He was a first explorer adviser for the Boy Scout Troop of Emanuel Church from 1965 to 1980, an area commissioner of Boy Scouts, and a former Sunday school teacher for years. Mr. Lassiter, the widower of Marnishia Lassiter, was also a member of the I.C. Norcom Hall of Fame Committee.
Survivors include a cousin, Lee G. Booth Jr., and a very special friend, Inez France, both of Portsmouth.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Emanuel A.M.E. Church by the Rev. James F. Mason. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee G. Booth Jr., 1909 Green St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
