NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR FIRST CITIZEN

Nominations for First Citizen of Portsmouth will be accepted through Jan. 26 at the Ports Events office.

The winner will be honored at a dinner in April.

The award is sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Host Lions Club, Rotary Club of Churchland, Rotary Club of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Service League.

It has been given since 1932. Last year's winner was Zelma Goodman Zivin.

First Citizen nominees will be judged on the basis of civic, charitable and religious activities and contributions to the welfare of the community, state and country during the 1995 year. Activities and contributions in prior years may be considered.

The activities must be over and above those that are considered part of the nominee's job and for which the nominee did not receive any remuneration.

Portsmouth must be the principal beneficiary of the activities and contributions of nominees who do not live in Portsmouth.

A committee of former First Citizens will make the selection.
