What box has Frank C. Strailman been hiding in (letter, Dec. 15). Doesn't he know that these women ``in a job that should be held by a young father'' are oftentimes young mothers?
I am a young mother of two and a military wife who works a 40-hour week to supplement my husband's meager military paycheck. Would Mr. Strailman deny me the right to work because I am female?
Many women these days work out of economic necessity. We deserve a work environment free from hostility, harassment and discrimination, whether it is a civilian or a military workplace.
Referring to female sailors as ``tatooed lesbians'' is inaccurate and displays the bigotry that allows travesties such as Tailhook to occur. Mr. Strailman wrote, ``A tough man focused on protecting wife and kids is far more fierce in battle.'' Mr. Strailman hasn't seen fierce until he's seen a mother fighting to protect her child!
