New Year's Day is a holiday for most government employees in city, state and federal offices.
City Hall and all branches of the Portsmouth Public Library will be closed on Monday.
All museums, including the Art Center, Naval Shipyard Museum, Portsmouth Lightship and the Children's Museum, will be closed on Monday.
There will be no garbage collection on New Year's Day. Garbage normally collected on this day will be picked up on Wednesday. There will not be any bulk item collection on Monday. SPSA will not collect recycling containers on Monday, but will pick them up on Wednesday.
All Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed on Monday.
All ABC stores that are normally open until 9 p.m. will close at 7 p.m Saturday. The stores will remain closed through Monday.
ABC's central office and nine district offices will be closed on Monday.
On New Year's Day, Tidewater Regional Transit will operate a Sunday schedule on all bus, trolley, Maxi-Ride and Handi-Ride services.
The Elizabeth River Ferry will run until 2 a.m. on New Year's Eve and will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year's Day.
TRT crossroads service to the Peninsula will not operate on Monday.
