JENNINGS LYON

Jennings ``Chips'' Lyon, 71, of the 4500 block of Bob Jones Drive, died Dec. 30, 1995.

Mr. Lyon retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service. He then worked for Old Dominion Stevedoring Company in Norfolk, where he was a Safety Engineer and retired after 20 years. Mr. Lyon was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, the Red Wing Seniors Golf Association, and the Retired Officer's Association. He was also a life member of Palmetto Lodge 19 in Laurens, S.C. He was past vice-president of the Virginia Beach Host Lions Club, Past Captain of the Mini Model T's, and a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps of the Khedive Shrine in Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Middleton Lyon; four daughters, Iris H. Byrum and her husband, Ronnie Byrum, of Suffolk, Carolyn M. Dozier and her husband, Ricky Dozier, of Norfolk, Patricia Middleton Pasko and her husband, Ron Pasko, of Virginia Beach, Linda Middleton Franciskovic and her husband, Matthew Franciskovic, of Chicago; two sons, Jennings L. Lyon Jr. and his wife, Patty Lyon, of Smithfield, John D. Middleton, Jr. and his wife, Teri Middleton, of San Deigo; four sisters, Celia Whitehurst and Ethel Burkette both of Virginia Beach, Margaret Tuite of San Francisco, Martha Stockman of Greenwood, S.C.; 11grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 717 Tuscan Road, Virginia Beach, by Pastor Danny J. Kesner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel provided information.
