EDWARD M. LANIER

Edward Marson Lanier, 73, of Route 2, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 1995, in Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C.

Mr. Lanier was a member of Creeksville Baptist Church and was a farmer. He was a World War II Army veteran and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He had served 28 years as supervisor of the Northampton Soil and Water Conservation and was current chairman, a post he had held since 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtie Bridgers Lanier; his son, Edward Marson Lanier Jr. of Conway; his daughter, Janna Lindberg, and son-in-law, David of Atlanta; four sisters, Sarah Martin of Conway, Daisy L. Zwicker of Arlington, Mass., Patti Beasley of Virginia Beach, and Jocelyn Lanier of Norfolk; three brothers, Raymond Lanier of Norfolk, Johnny Lanier of Tioga, La., and Marvin Lanier of Conway; and two grandchildren, Jamie Bryant of Conway and Erin Lanier of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas A. Lanier, Joe Lanier and Turner Lanier.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Creeksville Baptist Church by the Rev. Cecil Harkey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the home. Jackson Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to Creeksville Baptist Church.
