Jesse Godwin Futrell, 89, died Dec. 29, 1995, in his residence.
He was a native of Northhampton County, N.C., and was retired from both the Civil Service at N.O.B. and J.G. Nursery after 20 years of service. Mr. Futrell was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church where he was a deacon of the church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia McLane Futrell; two daughters, Doris F. Greaner of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Rebecca F. Martinette of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Bessie Barnes of Suffolk, Mattie Ruth Rockefeller of Virginia Beach, Emma E. Buck of Norfolk; two brothers, Vernie Futrell of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Howard Futrell of Conway, N.C.; three grandsons, Buddy Martinette of Chesapeake, Brian Martinette of Irvine, Calif., John Greaner of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Rosetta Askew Futrell and Cola G. Futrell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Bob Crute in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. Burial is in Rosewood Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Sentara Hospice, (NU)8 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
