ARIADNA C. SHAMBLY

Ariadna Edna C. Shambly, 71, formerly of the 700 block of Madison St., died Dec. 29, 1995, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

She was a native of Portland, Maine, and was a member of Community United Presbyterian Church, Portsmouth. At church, she was on the Female Usher Board, was planner and organizer of the Inspirational Choir, member of the Phoebe Circle, Women's Organization and the Friendship Committee. She was a retired seamstress with Cornet Casuals, where she worked for 13 years. She was a member of Effingham Plaza Civic Group and the Effingham Plaza Bible Class.

Survivors include four sons, James Shaw of Hampton, Wilburn Shaw of Florissant, Mo., Stephen Price of Sacramento, Calif., and Michael Shambly of Prince George, Va.; two brothers, Carey Bowles of Roselle, N.J., and Audbrey Bowles of Portland; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; three daughters-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Community United Presbyterian Church by Chaplain Wilbur Douglas. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at 2407 Palmer St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the procession.
