TEEN CRASHES STOLEN CAR AFTER 40-MINUTE PURSUIT; NO INJURIES

The 16-year-old driver of a stolen car was not injured after he crashed into a wall on Interstate-264 East near Frederick Boulevard while attempting to flee from police Saturday afternoon.

The teenager and another juvenile passenger allegedly stole a 1983 Oldsmobile in Suffolk. They followed Interstate-664 to Interstate-264 East.

The driver, who was taken to Maryview Medical Center as a precautionary measure, allegedly dropped off his passenger in Isle of Wight County.

Officers from Suffolk, Portsmouth and the Virginia State Police were involved in the 40-minute chase.

It was not a high-speed pursuit and the accident was minor, according to a spokesperson for the Virginia State Police.

Both juveniles are in the custody of the Suffolk police. State police have charged the driver with attemping to elude police, reckless driving and driving without a license.

Suffolk police are also charging the youths with larceny and hit and run of a traffic sign.
