JAMES W. EDWARDS SR.

James Woodrow Edwards Sr., 81, of the 3000 block of Woodrow St., died Dec. 31, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Edwards was a native of Nashville, N.C., and was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Creech Edwards; two sons, Thomas Asa Edwards of Portsmouth and James Woodrow Edwards Jr. of Suffolk; three sisters, Nancy Jackson and Annie Leppla, both of Momeyer, N.C., and Joyce Abernathy of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, John Edwards of Momeyer, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Kathy Pigg. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is handling arrangements. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Broad Street United Methodist Church, 300 Broad St., Portsmouth, Va. 23707.
