James Roy Pope Jr., 51, of the 3900 block of Sleepy Hole, died Dec. 31, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Pope, owner of West Norfolk Service Station, was a member of Berea Congregational Christian Church Driver. He was a native of Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Rose Pope; a daughter, Angela P. Robertson and her husband, Mike Robertson, of Suffolk; a son, James Roy Pope III of Suffolk; his mother, Josephine Ethel ``Jo'' Pope of Portsmouth; two sisters, Patricia Anne Dukelow of Port Haddock, Wash., Rebecca Iren Beck Hopper of Great Falls, S.C.; a brother, Jerry Michael Pope of Nashville; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Berea Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. James R. Cress. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bennetts Creek Rescue Squad, Driver Volunteer Fire Department or to the Martha Davis Cancer Center of Maryview Hospital.
