Marvin Wesley ``Skeeter'' Halstead, 92, of the Munden area of Virginia Beach, died Dec. 30, 1995.
Mr. Halstead, a retired manager, worked at Currituck Lodge, which was owned by author Thomas Dixon in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Mr. Halstead, the widower of Emma Byrom Halstead, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was mentioned as a hunting guide in several books about the subject in the Princess Anne area.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Halstead White of Annandale, Va.; five grandchildren, Beverly White Mefferd, Benjamin Lewis White Jr., Wesley Halstead White, Steven Halstead Haake, and Teri Haake Bauhs; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Alline Halstead Haake.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bethel United Methodist Church, in Virginia Beach near Munden Creek, by the Rev. Sandra Benton. Burial will be in Charity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mr. Halstead's residence following the services. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, in charge.
