Elaine Sterne Tibbits, 73, of Colonial Home for Adults, N. George Washington Highway, died Dec. 31, 1995, in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Tibbits, the widow of Edwin H. Tibbits Jr., was a homemaker and was previously a legal secretary for the Selective Service Board in West Virginia and California. She was a native of Beckley, W.Va., and a member of West Side Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie T. Bond and Robert David Bond, both of Chesapeake; a sister, Justine S. Nickels of Beckley; and two grandchildren, Shannon Dougherty and Heather Dougherty, both of Chesapeake.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. Kenneth Bryant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at her daughter's home, 228 Stubbs Drive, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Side Christian Church, 535 Cherokee Road, Portsmouth, 23701, or American Parkinson Disease Association, 116 John St., N.Y. 10038, or Colonial Home For Adults, 900 George Washington Highway N., Chesapeake, Va. 23323.
