A teenager died early Monday when a pickup hit the car he was in on Interstate 264. The driver of the pickup has been charged with drunken driving.
Ernest Hunt, 14, of Sir Kay Court in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake, was lying down and possibly asleep in the back seat of a car driven by his brother. He was pinned in the vehicle.
A 23-year-old Chesapeake man was charged with drunken driving and freed from jail after posting bail Monday.
State police spokeswoman Tammy Van Dame said the crash occured just after 3 a.m. on eastbound 264 on an off ramp to St. Paul's Boulevard.
The car Hunt was in, a 1993 Ford, was driven by his brother, Nickitar Hunt.
Van Dame said the car was slowing in the right lane as it came down the off ramp and was hit by the truck, a 1987 Chevrolet.
The force of the collision ``pushed the trunk of the Ford into the back seat,'' Van Dame said.
Ernest Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.
His brother and an unrelated passenger were not seriously hurt. Both were wearing seat belts.
Van Dame said the accident remains under investigation.
