MABEL E. CARTER

Mabel E. Carter, 87, formerly of Gillis Road, died Jan. 2, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

She was a native of Bertrand, Va., and the widow of Graham Leonard Carter. Mrs. Carter was a member of Cradock United Methodist Church, Portsmouth.

She is survived by two sons, John M. Carter of Suffolk and Graham M. Carter of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Meadowbrook Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Michael Robbins. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cradock United Methodist Church.
