Gracie Freeman Shambley, 75, of the 100 block of Perry School Road, died Dec. 30, 1995, in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
She was a native of Bertie County, N.C., and a member of Wynns' Grove Baptist Church, Colerain. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter (NU)569, member of Love and Charity, member of Miller Tabernacle (NU)203, and member of the senior choir. She was also a deaconess and a missionary.
She is survived by her husband, Willie R. Shambley; three sons, Joe W. Shambley of Monticello, N.Y., Aaron L. Shambley of Greenville, N.C., and David E. Shambley of Fayetteville, N.C.; three sisters, Lillian Cherry and Mary Freeman of Ahoskie, and Missiouria Drake of Cofield, N.C.; brother, David Freeman of Colerain; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in Wynns' Grove Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Thomas Lee. Burial is in Wynns' Grove Church Cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Ahoskie, in charge.
