Doris E. Rasberry, 87, of the 100 block of W. Overholt Drive, died Jan. 1, 1996.
She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and Westminster Chapter (NU)99, Order of the Eastern Star. Born March 18, 1908, in Richland, N.C., she resided in the Virginia Beach area for 65 years. As the loving wife of Eddie C. Rasberry Sr., she was a registered nurse by profession and also had the never-ending job of mother, wife and friend.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Eddie C. Rasberry Jr. of Virginia Beach; and three daughters, Evon Rice and Claudia Gardner, both of Virginia Beach, and Judi Gettier of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Other relatives include three brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be conducted Friday, Jan. 5, 1996, at 11 a.m. in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will follow the services at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday between 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the American Heart Association.
