John E. Evenson, 87, of the 3500 block of Norland Court, died Jan. 1, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Evenson, a retired PBX repairman, worked for C&P Telephone for 42 years. He was a native of Norfolk and member of First Lutheran Church of Norfolk. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta T. Evenson; two daughters, Randi L. Fizer of Newbern, N.C., Mary E. Goggin of Norfolk; two sisters, Alice E. Childress of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Olive E. Smith of Norfolk; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Lutheran Church of Norfolk by Dr. James G. Cobb. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to First Lutheran Church of Norfolk Building Fund. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, in charge.
