Strong arm robbery, 100 block North Main Street, Dec. 7, when two men approached a woman as she entered her car, one grabbed her by the shoulder and demanded money. She gave him an envelope containing money, and both men fled.
Armed robbery, 900 block North Main Street, Dec. 8, a man went up to a store counter, acting as though he were about to pay for a magazine. He opened the magazine, displaying a 9-inch knife. He pushed the cashier aside, removed money from the register and fled.
Breaking and entering, 300 block North Main Street, Dec. 8, someone entered a residence through a bathroom window and removed a Sears stereo valued at $100; a silver tray, $170; a silver teapot, $170; and a silver dish, $170.
Breaking and entering, 300 block South Saratoga Street, Dec. 11, someone used an object to break a window and enter a business. An AT&T telephone was removed.
Lost/stolen, 200 block Pine Street, Dec. 13, someone reported his Altha Classic cellular phone missing.

Petty larceny, 900 block Davis Boulevard, Dec. 7, someone removed the license tag from a blue, 4-door, '87 Oldsmobile.
Breaking and entering, 400 block Duke Street, Dec. 8, a woman returned to find two men inside her residence. She screamed and left, and the men fled by breaking glass out of a sliding glass door with a bicycle.
Motor vehicle theft, 400 block Beamon Mill Road, Dec. 9, someone removed a burgundy, 4-door, '91 Honda Accord from a driveway.
Grand larceny auto, 300 block York Street, Dec. 9, someone removed a brown-bronze, 4-door 88 Toyota Corolla from a driveway. The keys had been left in the vehicle, along with a purse.
Motor vehicle theft, 500 block Cullodan Street, Dec. 9, someone removed a black, 2-door 85 Buick Regal that was parked in front of a residence.
Breaking and entering, 400 block East Washington Street, Dec. 9, someone entered a business by pushing out a small window.
Attempted robbery, 100 block South Capitol Street, Dec. 10, a man tried to rob someone. During the attack, the robber bit the victim's thumb, breaking the skin.
Breaking and entering, 100 block South Main Street, Dec. 11, someone attempted to break into a business by forcing open the rear door.
Breaking and entering, 100 block North 4th Street, Dec. 11, someone entered a residence by cutting the screen of the front door. Removed was $150 that had been placed in a wallet under a pillow.
Breaking and entering, 1100 block Nansemond Parkway, Dec. 12, someone attempted to enter a residence by forcing the door open. The door frame was damaged, but the lock held.

Breaking and entering, 1800 block Holland Road, Dec. 9, someone entered a residence through the back door and removed a Marlin 22 caliber bolt action rifle and a 30.30 caliber Marlin Lever action rifle.
Motor vehicle theft, 4200 block Holland Road, Dec. 9, someone removed a white, 2-door, '87 Toyota Tercel from a parking lot. The vehicle had been left unsecured with the keys under the driver's seat.
Breaking and entering, 2700 block Pittmantown Road, Dec. 10, someone entered a residence by kicking open the rear door. A .12-gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, a leather jacket, a hand sander, two gold chains and two silver chains were removed.
Breaking and entering, 2800 block Pittmantown Road, Dec. 10, two men knocked on the front door. When no one answered, they went to the back door. They knocked, then proceeded to kick the rear door open. The resident, still inside armed with a .22 caliber revolver, confronted the men, who ran into the woods.

Breaking and entering, 900 block Little Fork Road, Dec. 8, someone entered a residence by breaking out a bathroom window. Three men's watches, six gold chains, an Eastern Star ring and a Lakeland class ring were removed.
Breaking and entering, 1300 block Babbtown Road, Dec. 9, a man used a key to open the back door of a residence; however dogs scared him away. This person is forbidden to be on the property.
Burglary, 3000 block Whaleyville Boulevard, Dec. 11, someone kicked a hole in a ceiling and entered the back office area of a market. An undetermined amount of currency was removed from the safe.
Attempt to gain money by false pretense, 100 block Mineral Springs Road, Dec. 12, a man approached a residence, asking to borrow money because his truck was disabled. The disabled vehicle could not be located.
Breaking and entering, 1100 block Carolina Road, Dec. 12, someone forced entry into a warehouse by prying back a section of tin on the wall. They vandalized the interior and ransacked a desk. by CNB
