Evelyn J. Thompson, 73, of the 1800 block of Springfield Ave., died Jan. 1, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mrs. Thompson, the widow of Henry Thompson, was a house wife. She was formerly employed at Village Thrift Shop. She was a native of Norfolk and a member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Thompson of Virginia Beach, and the Rev. Constance Thompson of Norfolk; a brother, Herbert L. Boyd of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Rodney R. Thompson, Phillip L. Thompson, Amber L. Thompson, and Brittany E. Thompson; and a nephew, Herbert L. Boyd Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 1710 Springfield Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Richard A. Council Pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at the home at 11 a.m. for the procession to the church on Saturday. The remains will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Hale Funeral Home in charge.
