Merian Raymond Meador, 76, formerly of Farmville, Va., died Jan. 2, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mr. Meador was a resident of Norfolk for 50 years. He was a member and elder of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. He also taught Sunday school for many years. He graduated from the Farmville School of Aeronautics. He was employed by N.A.R.F. as an aircraft mechanic supervisor and retired after 35 years. He had also served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Meador; two daughters, Lynnette Ansell and her husband, Aubrey, and Janice Jacob and her husband, Greg, all of Chesapeake; a sister, Charlotte Collier of Richmond; two brothers, Carlton Meador of Cedar Grove, N.J., and Winfrey Meador of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Ben, David, Rachel, Jonathan and Rebecca Jacob and Emily and Kelly Rae Ansell, all of Chesapeake.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Calvin Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Bob E. Dewitt. Burial will be private. Family and friends will be gathering in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church Renovation Fund. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
