Phyllis Harbaugh Hood, born June 22, 1907, daughter of Charles Alvin and Elizabeth Morris Harbaugh, died Monday, Jan. 2, 1996, in Nassawadox, Va., after a brief illness. She was a resident of Belle Haven, Va.
Mrs. Hood was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park. She worked at both The College of William and Mary and East Carolina University where she was employed as a student counselor. Mrs. Hood spent 18 summers working at Camp Greenbrier for Boys.
Mrs. Hood leaves three children, Louise H. Parish of Gaithersburg, Md., Elizabeth H. O'Neill and Robert W. Hood, both of Belle Haven; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Louise H. Hurd of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mary H. Campbell of Virginia Beach; and a brother, Daniel S. Harbaugh of Anacortes, Wash.
A private memorial service for family members will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 1996. The family will receive visitors in the Robert Hood residence Mill Point, 35170 Byrds Mill Road, Belle Haven on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Mrs. Hood's body has been donated to science. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Eastern Shore SPCA in Onley, Va., or to a charity of choice.
