Constance ``Connie'' Spivey Cope, 51, of 26 Virginia Ave., died Jan. 2, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.
A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of Bessie Holland Spivey and the late Melvin Vaughan Spivey. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Cope was a member of Colosse Baptist Church, its Friendship Sunday School Class and the Colosse W.M.U. She was a member of the Windsor Womans Club and was a volunteer at Windsor Elementary and Windsor High School. She was also a parents' sponsor of the Peer Facilitators and a member and former officer of the Windsor P.T.A.
Besides her mother, Mrs. Cope is survived by her husband, Rufus Cope and a daughter, Tonya Jane Cope of the home; two brothers, Donnie Melvin Spivey of Chesapeake and Kevin Holland Spivey of Gainsville, Ga.; two nieces and four nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday in Colosse Baptist Church by the Rev. Jarvis Hearn and the Rev. Ronald Wiley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
