MARGARET E. HERSHBERGER

Margaret Elizabeth Hershberger, 92, of the 3300 block of Hershridge Road, died Jan. 2, 1996.

Mrs. Hershberger, a native of Great Bridge, Va., was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Virginia Beach. She was a retired supervisor/switchboard operator from W.G. Swartz. She was a past counselor of Great Bridge Lodge (NU)47 Daughters of America; past state counselor of Virginia Daughters of America; national deputy of Daughters of America and served on many committees of the Daughters of America; a member of Order of Eastern Star, Friendship Chapter in South Norfolk and retired seniors volunteer program. She formed the African Violet Society in Virginia Beach. She was also a member of a garden club in Virginia Beach, council of garden club in Virginia Beach, where she was the instigator for the Floral Gardens in Red Wing Park. Her name is on the information board out there. Her generosity of time and love of flowers at one time was known throughout Tidewater.

She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Charles Lloyd Hershberger Sr.; a daughter, Lillian Hershberger Edwards of Norfolk; a sister, Lillian Lucille Hand of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Lloyd Hershberger Jr.; two grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Schroeder, vice pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Rupert R. Wallace. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
