SIDNEY B. GIBBS

Sidney B. Gibbs, formerly of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, died Jan. 2, 1996, in McGuire Hospital, Richmond, Va. He was born in 1919.

He was a resident of Barry Robinson Home for Boys before joining the U.S. Navy. He had a distinguished Naval career serving during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Maria Gibbs; five sons, Joseph L. Gibbs of Richmond, Sidney B. Gibbs Jr. and Michael A. Gibbs both of Virginia Beach, Keith E. Gibbs of Gloucester, Kenneth A. Gibbs of Kenbridge, Va.; one daughter, Joan Ayers of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepsons, Michael P. Behm of Viola, Del., and Kenneth Cubbage of Amelia.

A Christian Wake service will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. in Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, Amelia. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. for visitation. A Mass of Resurrection will be said Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Amelia, Va.
