Dr. Jeremy Shulman, a Norfolk dentist, has earned the highest level of certification by the American Academy of Pain Management by successfully completing the qualification and examination requirements at the academy's Dallas meeting.
The purpose of the academy is to establish and monitor a national program to certify competency in pain management. Although the academy is made up mainly of medical practitioners, Shulman's involvement is due to his interest in headache and TMJ dysfunction, which led to the establishment of the Eastern Virginia Center for Craniomandibular Pain. He has published many articles on related topics and is a frequent lecturer.
In recognition of humanitarian service, Gloria R. Spruill of Norfolk has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation
Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, the fellowship is the foundation's highest honor.
Spruill is a member of the Crossroads Lions Club, District 24D.
