Mary Ambrose Jones Brooks, 72, of the 400 block of Duplin St., died Jan. 4, 1996, in her residence.
She was a born in Creswell, N.C., on Nov. 3, 1923. She was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Harold B. Brooks Sr.; four daughters, Mary E. ``Tina'' Jones, Debra K. Trevino, both of Virginia Beach, Lois J. Pyles of Portsmouth, Teresa G. Wright of Ubly, Mich.; four sons, Homer L. Jones, Howard C. Brooks, Harold B. Brooks, all of Virginia Beach, Danny R. Brooks of Norfolk; three sisters, Betty Jo Brooks, Mabel Houston, both of Virginia Beach, Juanita Phelps of Cresswell, N.C.; brother, Harold Ambrose of Creswell, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, a daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, family, and friends who love her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Maggie and Dack Ambrose; and her daughter, Evelyn J. Vadala.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Kenneth W. Bryant in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Burial is in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
