JAMES R. DAVIS

James Russell Davis, 81, died Jan. 3, 1996, in Anderson Area Medical Center in South Carolina.

Mr. Davis, a native of Anderson County, S.C., was retired from the Naval Air Station. He was the widower of Eva Estelle Furough Davis. He was a member of Williamston Wesleyman Church, Williamston, S.C., where he served on the Board of Directors. He was the son of the late James and Ada McClain Davis.

Survivors include a son, Wayne G. Davis of Belton, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Smith of Virginia Beach; three stepsons, Graham Bateman of Taylors, S.C., Everett Bateman of Columbia, N.C., Dawson Bateman of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Lou Carlton of Tifton, Ga., Berbie Bradburn of Greenville, S.C., Iva Young of Pelzer; a brother, Jesses Davis of Piedmont, S.C.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
