Robert Gener Cherrix, 32, was shot at close range in the neck and chest Wednesday night as he stood at the front window of his home, Chincoteague Police Chief Willis Dize said. He was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where, he was listed in critical condition. Dize said the motive is unknown.
