Rev. Gordon Jones of 24101 Sykes Drive, departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, in his home.
A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Della Wyche Jones. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church, Capron.
Survivors include three sisters, Julia Gatling of Courtland, Helen Hendricks of Meryville, Tenn., and Phyllis Williams of Emporia, Va.; brother, Lloyd Anderson Jones; two aunts, Berlean Wyche of Emporia, and Annie Bynum of Courtland, Va.; devoted extended family, Cassandra Boykins, Edith Evans, and Rudolph Boykins, all of Drewryville, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Pine Level Baptist Church, Capron, with the Rev. Melvin Early officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Morning Star Church Cemetery, Capron. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the staff of the Pearson-Bond Funeral Service.
