CHARLES M. GARDNER

Charles M. ``Mack'' ``Pop'' Gardner, 75, of the 5800 block of S. Ottawa Road, died Jan. 5, 1996, in a Sentara nursing home from Alzheimer's disease.

He was a native of Jenkies, Ky., and was a retired command sergeant major with the U.S. Army, which he served for 26 years. He had been retired for 15 years. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, Witchduck Road.

He is survived by his wife, Eva H. Gardner; a daughter, Juanita G. Hassell of Manassas, Va.; two sisters, Lillian Dorigan and Beatrice Winslow, both of Norfolk; a brother, Thomas Gardner of Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Freewill Baptist Church, 210 Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Doug Horner. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
