William Leonard Smith, 69, of the 3900 block of Shore Drive, died Jan. 5, 1996.
He was a retired superintendent of Newport News Shipbuilding where he worked for 25 years. He was a native of Baltimore, Md., and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. Smith; three daughters, Patricia of Virginia Beach, Karen Grafton of Pensacola, Fla. and Tracey Martino of Italy; three sons, Donald of Evansville, Ind., Paul of Virginia Beach, and Victor of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Fran Moody in Christ United Methodist Church. Burial will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1601 East Bayview Blvd., Norfolk, 23518. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is in charge.
