BLAZE SWEEPS UNFINISHED HOME

Fire swept through a nearly complete, 8,000-square-foot home early Friday, causing $550,000 to $650,000 in damage.

The house, located in the 1300 block of Taylors Point Road, was 80 percent completed, said Battalion Chief Chase Sargent. The owner of the home is John H. Fain, he said.

Fain is president and majority owner of Metro Information Services of Virginia Beach, an information technology consulting firm.

Firefighters received the alarm at 1:35 a.m. The blaze was brought under control an hour later and was extinguished by 2:50 a.m.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
